Alaska recognizes valid remote notarizations performed under the laws of other states (Alaska Stat. § 09.63.050).
RON is authorized for Alaska notaries under Alaska Stat. § 44.50.075. -
Arizona recognizes remote notarizations performed under the laws of other states (Ariz. Rev. Stat. § 41-259).
Arizona notaries may perform RON under Ariz. Rev. Stat. Ann. § 41-263. -
Arkansas recognizes remote notarizations performed by out-of-state notaries (Arkansas Code §§ 16-45-102, 16-47-103, 16-47-210, 18-12-203).
Arkansas authorizes RON under Arkansas Code § 21-14-301. -
California recognizes notarizations performed in other states, including remote notarizations, if compliant with the laws of that state (California Civil Code § 1189(b)).
California notaries are not yet authorized to perform RON. Implementation is expected no later than January 1, 2030 (SB 696). -
Colorado recognizes remote notarizations performed under the laws of other states (C.R.S. §§ 24-21-511, 38-30-126, 38-35-105).
RON is authorized under Title 24, Article 21, Part 5 of the Colorado Revised Statutes. -
Connecticut recognizes remote notarizations performed by out-of-state notaries (Conn. Gen. Stat. §§ 1-30, 1-57, 47-5a, 52-148c).
RON is authorized under Public Act 23-28. -
Delaware law recognizes and accepts online notarizations performed by out-of-state notaries under its current state rules (Title 29 of the Delaware Code § 4324).
Once effective and implemented, Delaware authorizes remote online notarization for Delaware notaries (Title 29 of the Delaware Code § 4320).

Washington, D.C. recognizes online notarizations performed by notaries of other states under D.C. Code §§ 1-1231.10.
Although Washington, D.C. has not yet implemented rules allowing its notaries to perform online notarizations, D.C. notaries are not currently authorized to perform RON.

Florida recognizes and accepts online notarizations performed by out-of-state notaries under their state rules (see Sections 92.50, 695.03, and 90.902 of the Florida Statutes).
Online notary is legal in Florida under Chapter 117, Part II of the Florida Statutes.

Georgia recognizes and accepts online notarizations performed by out-of-state notaries under their state rules (Georgia Code Title 44 § 44-2-21, § 44-2-21, § 44-14-34, § 44-14-62, and Title 9. § 9-10-113).
Georgia notaries are not currently authorized to perform online notarization.

Idaho recognizes and accepts online notarizations performed by out-of-state notaries under their state rules (see Idaho Code § 51-111, 55-805, and 9-1401).
Online notary is legal in Idaho under IDAPA 34.07.01.

Illinois recognizes online notarizations performed by notaries from other states under Illinois Statutes Chapter 5 Section 255/6 and Illinois Statutes Chapter 765 Section 30/2 and 5/20.
Illinois approved online notary under (5 ILCS 312/) Illinois Notary Public Act, effective upon passage of rules.

Indiana recognizes and accepts online notarizations performed by out-of-state notaries under their state rules (see Ind. Code § 33-42-9-8).
Online notary is legal in Indiana under Ind. Code § 33-42-17-3.

Iowa recognizes and accepts online notarizations performed by out-of-state notaries under their state rules (see Iowa Code 9B.11, 558.20, 622.86).

Kansas recognizes and accepts online notarizations performed by out-of-state notaries under their state rules (see Kansas Statutes § 53-5a11 and § 58-2228).

West Virginia allows its notaries to perform remote online notarizations under W. Va Code §§ 39-4-6 & 39-4-37.
